FUNDRAISING REPORT P&C MEETING 19/3/08 We have sat down and gone through a calendar of events that we would like to hold this year. Obviously with term 1 being so short and with adverse weather conditions during the first 8 weeks or so of the school year there has not been time to organize any fundraising during this period. Following is a list of what we are proposing:- Term 2 (Either Friday 9 conducted as per arrangements in the past. I have spoken with Eddie Adams of The Night Owls today and he is unable to perform at our function. His band is fully booked out until mid to late June. He has given me a couple of names of other acts who may be able to perform for us. One is the band Hullabaloo. I have phoned and left a message with Keith Ogilvie regarding the possibility of booking Hullabaloo for those dates. At the time of writing this report he has not gotten back to me. I will follow up again after Easter. We need a reasonable amount of notice to enable us to obtain a liquor license for the night. We thought that it would be best to have this function as soon possible into term 2 and before the weather turned really cold. I will let you know how this progresses. If anybody knows of another band or entertainer who could assist in this regard then please let us know. We will keep you posted with this function. Obviously if we cannot secure any entertainment for this night, we will either have to cancel or postpone it. However, we do not want to bombard parents with too many activities during the last half of the year, particularly with the school concert in August and of course the main fundraiser (ie. Xmas Fair). It is suggested that this function is booked well before the end of the current school year to enable it to be held in term 1 of the following year. Term 3 (Sunday 27 the same lines as last year. We propose to start requesting donations from business houses at the end of May (after the Rock and Roll Night). A note will go out to parents during either last week of term 2 or first week back into term 3 giving them 2 weeks to bring in donations of items. Term 4 (Friday 21 years. We have started booking the rides and food vans for this function. The only other item is the Picture Plates which Margaret Dean is arranging. Linda has offered to assist her in this regard if she requires help with it. (Have we worked out what the cost will be for this? Would suggest $2 more than actual cost so that we can make something out of it.) Perhaps the above date claimer can be included in the next newsletter so parents have an idea of what is coming up and what fundraising the P & C is planning. Obviously details and requests for assistance from parents will be provided closer to the actual event. As there are only 2 of us being the main organizers of the fundraising for this year, we have opted for a simple approach and neither of us have any real idea of what we should be doing. Therefore we would appreciate any thoughts, suggestions or constructive criticism regarding the planned fundraising for 2008 from the more “experienced” committee members. Thank you Linda Keates & Lisa Rapley th May or Friday 16th May) – Rock and Roll Night. This is to beth July) – Cent Sale. To be held from 1.30pm to 4.00pm. Again alongst November) – Xmas Fair. 6.30pm to 9.30pm. Again as in previous |
