Victoria Park State School is situated in South Mackay near the picturesque Queens Gardens. We are a primary school catering for Prep to Year 7 students. Currently there are 661 primary students enrolled. In 2008 we welcomed our 27th teacher to our staff as a result of increased enrolments.

Victoria Park maintains a high level of academic achievement. Please refer to our 2006 Annual Report and our 2007 Annual Report when it is posted on our website Our teachers plaat the end of May. We place a high expectation on student work and behaviour and this is reflected in our academic achievements and positive school opinion in the wider community.

Culturally we offer a range of opportunities for students to excel. The Brass and Woodwind and Strings Ensembles provides students with the opportunity to excel in instrumental music. Choral and choir groups are available for all students to participate in. A school concert is held every second year alternating with a Bush Dance.

Victoria Park has a strong reputation in sport. In the last 4 years 4 students have represented Queensland and we have the current Queensland Primary School Softball coach and Queensland Primary School Tennis coach as a members of ourstaff. We participate and excel in a variety of sports including Athletics, Rugby League, Netball and Soccer. Linda Mackenzie, Geoff Huegill and Nick Ffrosy, current and former Olympians are former Victoria Park SS students.

Victoria Park is renowned for its innovative use of technology. Victoria Park SS is the first Mackay State Primary School to introduce the InnovateIT Program. Currently 60 students are engaged in using Lap Top Computers to deliver the entire curriculum. In 2009 we expect to increase the number of students in Year 5,6 and 7 using lap top computers to 90.

Victoria Park SS has the capacity to enroll up to 100 Prep Students. In 2008 we have 85 students in 4 Prep Classes.

Parent involvement in the school is valued through the Parents and Citizens Association and the School Council. Parents are encouraged to help as a volunteer in the classroom and at social and fund raising events.

At Victoria Park we value our traditions but embrace modern teaching styles. We enjoy what we do and value everyone's contribution. Victoria Park State School is a Great School, a fantastic place to start your child's education.
